Eco Ceramica's artistic decorated tiles are the result of the perfect harmony between craftsmanship, creativity, experience and technique. The main ingredients in the creation of our handmade tiles are the richness of the raw materials: clay of the highest quality and glazes rich in precious minerals.
Far from industrial mass production, our artistic and design decorated tiles are produced following the thousand-year-old tradition of ceramics. Our handmade tiles are made and decorated by hand by master ceramists with decades of experience. Few artisans are now able to make this type of tile, where each piece is unique and where the craftsmanship of the person making it leaves an indelible mark.
The production of Eco Ceramica's artistic and design decorated tiles takes place in a totally different way from that of stoneware tiles. Each piece is in fact entirely modelled and pressed by hand. After 20 days of drying, the tile is fired in a wood-fired oven at 1050° for 30 hours. This is followed by manual glazing and then "double firing", the second firing in the kiln.
Our hand-decorated tiles create pleasant sensations both to the touch and to the eye thanks to the slight irregularities in its shape and the various shades of colour. Such characteristics can be found, for example, in the Metallica collection. Our artistic tiles pick up on tradition, seeking out decorations and patterns from past centuries. Other more modern lines, on the other hand, create a more contemporary ambience, but at the same time welcoming and with character.
An important part of Eco Ceramica's artisanal line is the production of handmade terracotta floors, such as those in the Ecologica series, faithfully following the ancient Etruscan method: from manual beating to wood-firing.
